Hey There ! wanted to say Hi. Thanks to every reader. Hope and pray it is good with youall. I might be a little weird, to a lot of folks, but it was good to wake up to 3 new inches of snow yesterday. Was 60 degrees the other day and that felt nice also. The snow brought some much needed moisture and an added element of beauty. Of course being spring it is almost melted off this next morning.. Makes the plants hardier and gets rid of a few more bugs. You know the old story, It is not heaven and will not be until the Lord comes back so if a person is thankful for what they have it is easier and one has a better attitude.Take it the way it comes and enjoy the day as best as one can. Would have been great to get out in the white stuff but I had too many of those old responsibility's to take care of. It is only April so There is still a good chance we will get another blast before it is all over. Hear in the Flathead it is typical to get our last frost on June 3. Now thats pretty late. One year, a few years ago, we received over 6 inches of snow on that date with a bunch of trees breaking under the weight of that heavy wet stuff. All of the cottonwood trees were budded out with leaves filled with sap and with the added snow those big old limbs came crashing down. The sight and sounds, standing on my porch, was quite the spectacle. Fact it was awesome, There is a regular forest around my place and about every 3 minutes a big limb would crash down with a large bang and billows of snow being thrown into the air. Lasting for about an hour, giving a guy a little bit of an uncomfortable felling. If I hadn't had a bit of faith or wasn't lost in the raw power of it all. a person might have been flat scared. Speaking of snow and this last winter I did have the opportunity, with the hounds, to tree 5 mountain lions. Did not harvest any and have only shot one in the last 33 years. Did get a couple of pictures but not very good ones for all of the cats seemed to be way up in the tree or else behind a limb or two. They are such a magnificent creature it is amazing. One of them was a really big tom lion . Probably weighing in at over 160 pounds. Can you even imagine? a typical house cat is only 10 pounds. Not really into killing things but there are times when there are too many of them and if we don't do some thing with them they will eat us all. Had too many several years ago with one young boy being eaten down by Missoula and several other people getting attacked around the Northwest. The Fish Wildlife and Parks hear got with the hounds men of the area and we got them thinned down some and we have been living in peace ever since. All things must be in a balance. So with man having dominion over it all it is our responsibility to take care of it. One can not do part with out doing it all. It seems that some people do not understand the dynamics of it. They feel we should not kill any thing ! how ever if we don't then are kids are eaten or the deer get over populated and die off from some sickness and the land is riddled with dead deer every where. Always wanted to know why some one doesn't put out adds that portrayed the truth with a nice healthy family enjoying a fine meal of the blessings that God has bestowed on us. It is written that in the end days that man will refuse to eat meat which God has given him which is good.---- and good for you I might add. Any how lets search out the truth in our own hearts and spread it around. May God richly bless youall Grampa Will |
